LOWELL, Mass. – A team of lecturers and researchers led by UMass Lowell is creating a laptop science curriculum for middle-schoolers to introduce the area to college students from varied backgrounds.
Known as CS Pathways, the job aims to construct culturally responsive and sustainable electronic literacy and coding systems for secondary college students in Lowell, Methuen and Schenectady, N.Y. The initiative’s partners include things like school at UMass Lowell and SUNY Albany, along with center-college directors, academics and mothers and fathers in the participating communities. A $1.2 million, three-year grant from the National Science Basis is funding the task.
